Tie Down or Calf Roping, is a timed rodeo event featuring a calf and a mounted rider who throws a looped rope (not lasso, lariat, or riata…rope!) around the neck of a running calf, dismounts, and ties three of the calf’s legs together with a knot called a “Hooey” in a smaller rope called a “Piggin’ String.” Working cowboys developed the technique for more efficient branding and “doctoring” on the open plain.
Randy Meador is a celebrated Western artist from Saint Jo, Texas. He is one of the world’s great Western Equestrian Artists, known for stunning oil paintings, sculptures and watercolors. Randy has now revived a lost and beloved art form, exclusively for Axterracor, classic Western illustration! Each piece celebrates something timeless, wholesome, and universal. Randy says, “This reborn cowboy art has found its perfect home in Mugs West by Axterracor Mugs.” We agree. Randy actively supports US veterans and their families.
